Dear Bonny Dooners, We are creating a Quilt-to-be-raffled-off that will benefit the Bonny Doon Fire Team entitled "Visions of Bonny Doon 2010". We will need forty-five (45) blocks to complete it. We would like for you to volunteer to make a 10 1/2" X 10 1/2" block with your vision of Bonny Doon from preshrunk fabric. Your block may be pieced, appliquéd, fabric painted, embroidered, etc. Please sign or initial your block. We have sample pieces of the backing fabric (green, brown and orange trees), the border fabric (dark green leaves) and other fabrics available. You may incorporate these into your block or use them to coordinate your own fabric choices. I also have books of pattern ideas if you wish to look at them, or visit the library's huge selection of books on quilting topics. Quilt raffle tickets will be available as soon as the blocks start rolling in. Saturday, November 14 11:00 am: Volunteer Work Day Meet by the old Firehouse on Martin Road Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we will be having our volunteer workday earlier this month. Feel like helping? The weather is cooler now. Do you have children that need community credit points for a school program? The Reserve offers a perfect local opportunity. Volunteers are needed to finish erosion control and to remove invasive non-native plants (primarily French broom) along some of the Reserve trails. Please bring a shovel and gloves. Also bring sun protection, water, and a snack for yourself. Donations are needed to pay for the Camp Ben Lomond crew to do fuel reduction, trail work, fence repair, and fire safety projects. A donation of $220 will cover a crew of 15 men for a day's work. Want to donate? Email Val.
