La Nostra Costa by Ivano Franco Comelli
Visit Ivan's Website and
The Nostra Costa Blog
"La Nostra Costa" (Our Coast) is about my family's journey to Davenport and the North Coast. It
contains a humorous story of how the Iacopetti Store later became the "Lost Weekend Bar" and now the Bonny
Doon Vineyard Tasting Room.
The Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (831-429-1964) 705 Front Street carries Ivano's book. Buy yourself a
great Holiday Gift and support the Museum.

The Death Contingency by Nancy Lynn Jarvis
More information available at www.GoodReadMysteries.com.
Regan McHenry is a Santa Cruz real estate agent whose work puts her in the midst of mystery, mayhem and even
murder. Recently, her business on the upper west side of town has brought her close to so many deaths
her associates have started calling her 'the grim reaperette'.
The last death in the neighborhood is ruled accidental, but she thinks it's murder - she even thinks she
knows who the murderer is. Now Regan has to prove a crime has been committed before anyone will take
her seriously. The problem is - she doesn't want to be right.

Just Treat Me Like I Matter, The Heart of Sales by Diane Marie Pinkard
Diane Marie Pinkard believes that society is experiencing yet another major, social paradigm shift-that
people are once again appreciating the value of caring and trusting "interpersonal relations" in both the
corporate world and the marketplace. She maintains that "people still buy people," and they buy best from
people who treat them like they matter. More information is available on her website

Burn Season Begins December 1st. Yard trimmings can be burned only on "burn
days". Telephone 1-800-CAL-BURN to hear the Monterey Bay Air Pollution Control District's daily
recording declaring whether that day is a "burn day" or a "no burn day". Their decisions are based on
air pollution factors and not fire safety. Before burning, residents should judge fire safety factors
such as high winds. Detailed regulations and fire safety information are available from the California
Department of Forestry, 6059 Highway 9 in Felton, telephone 335-5353. Some basic rules include:
- Material being burned must have grown on the property and should be dry.
- Burning is limited to daylight hours.
- An adult must be in attendance.
- Burn piles should be small and a safe distance from flammable vegetation and buildings.
- A water source should be available.
