FOUND DOG
A skinny white, short-haired, blue eyed dog, about the size of a wolf, has been seen on Comstock Lane and around
upper Pine Flat Road. Residents who stopped the dog on Pine Flat said it seemed very friendly and very hungry. The
dog is wearing a blue collar but there are no tags. Call 427-1320 if you have more info.

Thank you Fire Fighters for saving our homes!
|
|
A new thank you from Charlie, Corrina & Owen Powell & Jessica Vaughan:
Our Heartfelt Thanks to All the Bonny Doon Volunteers, Firefighters from Near and Far and Many Friends.
Our family was vacationing in Mexico when the cell phone rang on June 12th. One of our daughter's friends was
the first to call about the Martin Fire. We were thousands of miles from home and it looked certain that we
would lose our beloved house, garden, studio, oaks and everything else. Naturally, we were completely
panicked and spent the next 24 hours on the phone with numerous friends, trying to ascertain the extent of
the damage. By Thursday, we got word that the Herculean efforts of firefighters and friends had kept our home
from burning to the ground. We were so deeply touched. We couldn't believe the immense effort that was made.
We feel incredibly fortunate to live in a community where people step up to help one another in such a time
of need. Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude, but THANK YOU, one and all, for everything you did.
You helped to save a home that has been in our family for over 50 years, and 25 years of Charlie's artwork.
We look forward to celebrating with everyone at the Bonny Doon Volunteers BBQ!

lovingly use for this year's new theme? I will take care of them and return after the event. The design
process starts soon, so give me a call. Thank you!! Laurel Wolfe Surles, 427-4524.

Monday, September 22
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm: LAFCO PUBLIC HEARING
to consider formation of the Bonny Doon Fire Protection District
First Congregational Church, 900 High Street, Santa Cruz
We need your help again! Bonny Doon residents deserve the right to vote on formation of our local fire
district. Obtaining the right to vote requires LAFCO approval of our application. Please help by:
- ATTENDING the LAFCO public hearing
- SPEAKING in favor of formation of the Bonny Doon Fire Protection District
- WRITING A LETTER to LAFCO in favor of district dormation
(Address: LAFCO, County Government Center, Room 318-D, 701 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060)
When speaking or writing to LAFCO please include your name and address. A statement of why you support
district formation is helpful. We petitioned LAFCO because district formation permits local governance of
Bonny Doon fire protection taxes. That will enable the Bonny Doon fire district to accomplish significant
improvements in fire and medical emergency services to the Bonny Doon community. For additional fire district
proposal information, contact Tom Scully at (831) 425-1432 or
TomScully@comcast.net.
