2:00 pm: The Bonny Doon Gardeners
Meet at the home of Nancy Andreasen, 391 Winter Creek. The title of the presentation by Nancy and Lise Bixler is Control and Chaos – personal style in gardening. They will discuss how you creatively express yourself with your garden - be it flowers, herbs, vegetables, experimental, or low maintenance. If you are able to attend, please call Nancy at 423-4086 or Louise at 429-1948.

At the August Gardeners meeting, M' Jeanne Erwin, a member of the Monterey Bay Iris Society, gave an outstanding presentation on bearded iris. Her examples of the 31 categories of iris were beautiful photos of flowers in her own garden. She said iris need well drained soil and very little fertilizer. She described the procedure for hybridizing iris and passed around examples of iris seed. After the presentation there were wonderful refreshments and an exchange of plants. Many thanks to our hostess, Georgia Randle.

11:00 am: Ecological Reserve Volunteer Day
Meet by the Firehouse on Martin Road.  We will be doing trail maintenance on the Outer Loop Trail.  Please bring hiking shoes, water, snack, and loppers for trimming back the shrubs growing along the trail.  We typically work for about three hours.

Thanks to the folks that helped on our last volunteer day. Over the next month, we are hoping to remodel the kiosk. Improvements will include a roof to keep the brochures dry during the rainy season. We are also planning to post laminated photographs of some of the rare plants that grow along the trails at the Reserve. If anyone has ideas, materials, or would like to help with the kiosk improvements, please call Val Haley at 425-0687.

If you would like to learn more about the Reserve or lead walks, and become a docent, or to volunteer in any way, call Val at 425-0687.
